Study Exchange – real opportunities
I am a scholar of Yerzhan Tatishev foundation since 2010 and a 3rd year student at the University of International Business. This spring, I was fortunate enough to study in South Korea as an exchange student. I spent the spring semester in Solbridge International School of Business.
I have always been attracted to Korea’s culture, economy and people. Before the trip, I, like everybody, was full of expectations and excitement, everything for me was the first example for example how to live in a dorm with an unknown person. Arriving in the city of Daejeon, where I studied for one semester, I began to gradually get used to everything. My excitements were in vain, people I met during all my stay in Korea, were open and friendly.
I liked the fact that Solbridge International School of Business really lives up to its name as international school, I studied with students from countries such as Brazil, Morocco, France, Mexico, Germany, Cambodia, Nepal, Indonesia. Due to this diversity, I learned a lot not only about the culture of Korea, but also a piece of other cultures. Also we had lessons that helped expand our horizons and change the way of thinking. Regarding the occupation, there were lots of group projects, the most interesting thing I noticed to myself is that students from China and Korea are very assiduous, they can explore for days one chapter to the most minor details. Those who are not very successful in learning, doing everything possible to eliminate this drawback, as a result of doing their best students. Another experience that I learned as a student in Solbridge – the competition: they are preparing their students for the real world and use special education evaluation system named “Curve”. The idea is that only 20% of the class will receive the highest score, and scores of left will be counted using interest rate. In this case, it all depends on one’s own.
Summing up the results of my trip, the training in Solbridge is an invaluable experience. All my expectations were met; the level of teaching was on top. In one semester, I learned a lot, I got acquainted with the country, met with a huge number of people learning the language, and just enjoy the life.
I also want to express my gratitude to the Yerzhan Tatishev foundation for the great support and the opportunity to realize dreams and achieve goals! And I want give advice to the fellows – if you have the opportunity to learn as exchange student, do not miss it – you will never regret it!
