On June 11-12, Almaty hosted the second round of the 2019 contest of the BesTіrek Program of the Yerzhan Tatishev Foundation. This stage of the competition was held on the basis of the Program partner, Almaty University Management. The competitive selection for this program consists of three parts: a technical assessment based on the tender documentation, participation in a business game and a meeting of the tender committee to make the final decision on grant awards. This year, the Foundation has developed a new website and integrated an online application submission system and applicants who wish to participate in the competition could log in and submit an application.

This year’s competition received 115 applications from almost all parts of Kazakhstan. The first part of the documents contained information about academic performance, achievements in subject Olympiads, competitions of scientific projects, sports and various socially useful activities. The competitive essay revealed the level of motivation, values, self-esteem and plans for the life of the applicant. In addition to information about the achievements and personal qualities of the applicant, documents characterizing the financial situation of the family were also required. 22 people successfully passed the correspondence assessment, 4 of them refused to continue participating in the competition for personal reasons. 18 contestants were invited to Almaty to participate in the subsequent selection stage in order to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in practice.

The second round was held in the format of an interactive business game. The participants were divided into four teams and each had to develop a business project and present it to the competition committee. The guys tried to use their arsenal in order to present their ideas as profitably as possible. For two days, the guys brainstormed, pumped the idea of ​​business, weighed its relevance and vitality, and even managed to dance, play “hugs” and perform in an impromptu music group. Jury members and observers monitored the work of the teams, directed and evaluated stress resistance, openness, horizons, the ability to interact with others, and presentation skills of each contestant. At the end of the second day, an anonymous vote was held among the contestants to determine the leaders.

The Yerzhan Tatishev Foundation thanks all observers and the jury for their involvement, sincere participation and assistance in the second round, as well as the administration of Almaty University Management for the provided material and technical base. Regardless of the results of the contest, we wish the participants of the second round great creative energy and success in the implementation of their plans and projects, and successful delivery of UNT and KTA!

Cipkun Daniil: “The second round was held at AlmaU. For 2 days we were there. On the first day we were divided into teams, and then our adventure began. Already on the first day, we had our own project ready, which we presented to the commission members. Speaking about the atmosphere in the team, so quickly I still could not make friends with strangers. Each was responsible for his part, there was no disagreement. We worked harmoniously on our project, and this gave a good result. Special thanks I want to say to all the Organizers for the work done. Everything was clear in due time. Bakeev Daulet: “These two days that I spent with the Foundation will remain in my memory for a long time. I learned a lot of new things for myself. Honestly, I even began to look differently at some everyday things. I’m still full of emotions. Most of all I liked working in a team on a project. At that moment, I felt like I was working in some office on Wall Street! 🙂 In just two days, I was able to find out so many interesting things, the time spent with the guys flew by like an instant, we were all involved in the process and with interest participated in this project. During these days we made friends with all the participants and did not perceive each other as competitors, we were one single team! Thanks to the Yerzhan Tatishev Foundation, the BesTirek program, the organizers of the Foundation and our coordinator Aliya! Was cool!!! I hope that all participants in this project have been fed with the right energy and motivation for further studies. We are young and confidently think that we will succeed!
