On September 8, the Yerzhan Tatishev Foundation honored the winners of Educational Grant Programs. Nine contestants from different regions of Kazakhstan passed the competitive selection and became the owners of the Foundation’s grants. Six of them are finalists of the BesTіrek Educational Grants Program, and three are finalists of the Program for Young People with Disabilities. All of them got the opportunity to study in the best higher and secondary special educational institutions of Almaty.

All the guys who became Fund scholars this year were distinguished by high academic performance, activity and leadership inclinations. The selection for both programs consisted of three stages: a technical assessment of personal qualities, achievements and financial situation of the family, evaluation during an interactive seminar, and interviewing.

The educational grants program for graduates of schools, colleges and orphanages is one of the first and key developments of the Fund, thanks to which since 2007 children from simple families have received higher economic education. In 2017, the priorities of the Program were revised, and currently resources are focused on training in entrepreneurship in practice. The program was restarted together with Almaty Management University under the new name “BesTіrek” and is designed to help young businessmen in obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary to create new business ideas. In addition to the educational grant, each BesTіrek scholarship holder will receive support from mentors and a grant for his own startup. Fellows will also have the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills at the summer camp at Babson College, USA.

Applicants for college education grants were expected to see autonomy, commitment, and motivation to master their chosen profession. The winners of the contest for the Program for young people with disabilities are:

At the ceremony, 2017 scholarship holders were presented gifts with the attributes of the Fund, bank cards, to which the scholarship will be transferred monthly. The guys met with other scholars and told about themselves. Fellows of the Fund congratulated the “newcomers” on their victory in the competition and on their arrival in the Fund’s large family. The President of the Fund, Dana Zharikova and a graduate of the Fund in 2011, Amina Abugalieva congratulated the children on the beginning of a new and interesting stage in their lives and wished them success. After the solemn part, the results of academic performance and volunteer work of the scholarship holders for the past academic year were presented.
