On April 20, 2019, Yerzhan Tatishev Memorial Day was held at the Lyceum School No. 16 named after Y. Gagarin, Kentau. Every year, on the eve of the birthday of its graduate, the school holds a sports contest in which athletes and intellectuals can compete.This year, the competitions that have already become traditional were held: the volleyball tournament, the favorite sport of Yerzhan Tatishev, the chess tournament, the competition among students of elementary and middle classes for the best crafts and drawings on the topic of astronautics and the intellectual competition in mathematics “Sea Battle”. Memorial Day was especially festive and interesting thanks to new competitions – city tournaments in rhythmic gymnastics and karate, which added entertainment and excitement.The karate tournament was attended by age groups from five to eleven years old and demonstrated their skills in the kata kumite category. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the trainers, Ilyasov Saken, Tatiana Sambunaris and Aitmakhanova Marzhan, the guys physically develop, absorb the spiritual foundations of martial arts and grow professionally.

The interests of young gymnasts have been promoted by the rhythmic gymnastics trainer, Ekaterina Podkhlebnaya, for several years. In 2016, she founded the Kentau City Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Public Association with the aim of promoting and developing this beautiful sport. Her daughter, Skvortsova Ariadna, is studying in the 9th “A” class of lyceum school No. 16 and has high expectations – now she is a member of the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a candidate for master of sports in rhythmic gymnastics. Despite the recent knee operation, Ariadne pleased the jury and guests of the festival with her performance.

The Yerzhan Tatishev Foundation is trying to support the lyceum school and helps to improve its material and technical base. This year, surveillance cameras were installed at the school. The Foundation expresses gratitude to the school administration for organizing the Day of Remembrance of Yerzhan Tatishev, and wishes all students a successful completion of the school year!
